This weekend I decided to shake up my hair routine by sampling the Odylique Gentle Herb Shampoo and John Masters Lavender and Avocado Intensive Conditioner.
Recently I’ve noticed the natural shampoo and conditioner that I’ve been using has caused some product build-up on my scalp. This is not unheard of with natural hair products and it can be quite irritating. After all, nobody wants a flaky and itchy scalp.
I decided to search for a natural shampoo that would thoroughly clean my fine and dry hair without weighing it down. Eventually, I stumbled across the multi-award winning, Odylique Gentle Herb Shampoo, which is famed for being suitable for even the most sensitive skins. This shampoo is 70% organic and 100% natural. The combination of coconut oil, chamomile, rosemary and aloe vera juice in the shampoo is super conditioning. After continuous use, many people who regularly use the product claim not to need to use a conditioner afterwards.

The first thing I noticed about the Odylique Gentle Herb Shampoo was its unusual scent. It’s kind of a combination of herbs and cleaning fluid. I wouldn’t say it’s a particularly inviting smell but equally, it’s not offensive.
The next thing I discovered was that it doesn’t lather when applied to damp hair. Many natural shampoos claim that it is all of the chemicals in shampoos that make them lather and this is actually a bad thing. I find without any lather at all that it makes the shampoo quite difficult to massage into your hair. In the end, I found using my fingers to comb it through my hair seemed to be the best way to ensure that it was thoroughly coated. As per the instructions I left it on my hair for a few minutes and then rinsed it off.

Performance Rating 3/5
Even though the product could smell more pleasant and be a little easier to apply, it did actually clean my hair pretty well. In fact, the shampoo did successfully remove most of the residue which the previous shampoo had left in my hair. My scalp certainly thanked me for it and within one wash all of the irritation seemed to have dissapeared.
I would use this shampoo again if I was suffering from product build-up as it is very effective. However, I wouldn’t say it was one I’d choose to use daily because I do prefer a bit more lather in my shampoo.
