This is my first time trying an organic shampoo and conditioner, so I’m naturally filled with a mixture of intrigue and hope that it performs as good as any chemical based high street alternative.

Firstly, you should know that I’m going through a transitional phase with my hair. I’ve not coloured it for 5 months in a bid to give my hair a break, whilst searching for an organic colour process to restore my hair back to its former health (more details to follow in a future post). Before I came to my senses last August, I’d been dying my hair for over 13 years and have been most hair colours. Hence why it’s now a combination of faded shades of blonde and red (aka orange).

My main aim is to find a natural shampoo and conditioner which will help to inject moisture into the hair follicles whilst protecting them from breaking. This is why I’ve chosen the Ultra-Moist range which Giovanni produce as it’s specifically for people with dry and damaged hair.

Products in Action

The products claim to: –

  • Restore moisture and hydrate hair
  • Silken hair
  • Add shine
  • Not strip colour

Due to these products being targeted at people with dry and damaged hair they contain a nourishing combination of avocado and olive oil, amongst other organic ingredients.

Olive oil is a super hair ingredient; it’s famed for its ability to add moisture, shine and softness. Avocados, on the other hand, are mainly used in hair masks, due to their high-fat content making hair less dry and prone to breakage. I was initially sceptical that the avocado would weigh down my fine hair. However, I’m pleased to say that I was wrong.

The formula for both products was very thick, which is great because you only need to use a small amount and so they should last for a long time. They contain a perfumed scent which is quite flowery, mild and fresh.

I’m really impressed with the shampoo and conditioner. My hair is soft, shiny and smooth without being greasy.

I think it will be interesting to see whether regular washing with these products will improve the overall condition of my hair. I will continue to use them for the next month and then include another post to discuss whether they have truly delivered on their promise to moisturise and hydrate dry and damaged hair.

About Giovanni

Giovanni is the number one selling natural haircare line in the United States. The brand was born out of frustration from a Californian based salon owner, who was finding it difficult to continue to trade as his own skin was reacting to the products he was using on his clients. This led to the creation of a natural line of salon inspired hair products which were innovative and performed just as successfully as any other salon product. The brand aims to provide fashion forward and sophisticated natural products.
